This king campaigned in many of the same areas as his predecessor Assur-dan II, although in the west he extended Assyria's conquests to the west of the Habur, taking the cities of Husirina, Guzana, and Nasibina after repeated attacks (Kuhrt, pg. 481). Adad-nirari II also renewed the age-old conflict with Babylonia, forming an alliance with the states of Hindanu and Laqe to the northwest of Babylon in order to briefly push Assyrian borders further along the Euphrates and the east Tigris region. However the expansion was only temporary, and eventually Adad-nirari opted for a diplomatic compromise whereby the Assyrian and Babylonian kings exchanged daughters in marriage (Kuhrt pg. 482). | This king campaigned in many of the same areas as his predecessor Assur-dan II, although in the west he extended Assyria's conquests to the west of the Habur, taking the cities of Husirina, Guzana, and Nasibina after repeated attacks (Kuhrt, pg. 481).
